This is one case where a studios foresight into seeing the future potential of a videogame based movie was dead -on, as a game like Heavy Rain could make a pretty perfect transition to film. Even if a movie would have to be much more linear or pick and choose a certain course that the film would take based on the many outcomes and options present in the game (one reason that videogame media makes more sense to tell the story than any other type of media). Which some may consider blasphemy right there, but you can’t deny that the cinematic quality of Heavy Rain makes it very suitable to film.

The rights for the game were filed in 2006 and then re-filed in 2007. And although this doesn’t mean that Heavy Rain WILL be turned into a movie, it certainly is very likely.
