PlayStation Move is the name Sony has given to its PlayStation 3 motion controller.

The motion controller, which was launched in June 2009, was christened by Sony, at an event at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The move that looks somewhat like a microphone with a big shimmering ball at the end will come at a price of about $100 when it will hit the markets this fall. The price includes one Move controller, PlayStation Eye motion sensor, and a game.

At the launch of the Move, President Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment Studios said, “We have been bringing consumers what they have been asking for: and immersive gaming experience".

The Move and Nintendo Wii's "nunchuk" will storm the market simultaneously.

The Move also has a tough battle with Project Natal, Microsoft's motion-sensing technology, which will come out this holiday season.

It is said that Natal, which is completely camera based, will use its whole body as a controller.

While the PlayStation Eye is designed to sense motion, the Move will be used as the main controller, equipped to convey subtle gestures that Natal may or may not be able to sense.

"SOCOM 4", "Little Big Planet", and "Move Party" will use the PlayStation Move.
