A Chinese boy was saved from dropping to his death by his ears.

Six-year-old Ming Ming – who started to fall through a window of his home in Yichang – was only saved from death by his ears because they stuck out so much they became lodged between the bars. Fire-fighters were able to save him using a hydraulic pressure expander to force the bars apart and pull him back into his apartment. One witness said: "The only thing stopping him from plunging to the ground below was the fact his head was trapped between two window bars." Ming is thought to have fallen from the window after waking up alone in the house after his grandfather went to run an errand.
