Barack Hussein Obama II is the 44th and current President of the United States with a net worth estimated at $5 million. He was born on August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born to Stanley Ann Dunham and Barack Sr. Sadly, his parents would get a divorce when he was just two. His mother would later marry an Indonesian student named Lolo Soetoro. Because of this Barack moved to Indonesia with his mother and step father. He would return to Hawaii in 1971 to live with his grandfather. It was here that he attended Punahou School which he would attend from fifth grade till his senior year in high school. After high school Obama went to study in Los Angeles at Occidental College. After two years at Occidental he transferred to Columbia University in New York City. While there he majored in political science which he would graduate with a B.A. in 1983. After college he worked at Business International Corporation and New York Public Interest Research group.
After four years of living in New York he ventured out to Chicago where he became a community organizer for low income families. It was here where he first began to stand up for his beliefs in the American economic system. Obama wanted to find more so he enrolled in Harvard Law School. While there he created headlines by becoming the first African American to become President of the Harvard Law Review. This led to him getting a book deal to write a paper on race relations. The book turned into a novel eventually called, “Dreams from my Father”. Obama graduated Harvard Law in 1991 and returned to Chicago. He would become involved with University of Chicago Law School where he would even teach for twelve years. While in Chicago he also became a part of Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland which was a law firm that specialized in specializing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development. During all of this time he dreamed about having a political career. It was until 1996 that one came into fruition. In 1996 he was elected to the Illinois Senate. He was quickly celebrated and worked hard on such difficult ordeals like healthcare. People liked him and his politics because he was re-elected in 1998. His work in politics led him to being the keynote speaker at the 2004 democratic conventions. Soon talk of him running in the next election became a possibility. During this time he served as being the U.S. Senator of Illinois. In 2007 Obama announced his campaign for President. He would win the democratic vote in June third. His opponent was Republican John McCain. The two debated in three televised discussions. Obama presented himself as a man of new ideas and America listened because on November 3rd, 2008 Obama was elected President of the United States. It was on this day that history was made. Obama still continue to make history change everyday in his Presidency. He currently lives in the White House with his wife Michelle (the two have been married since 1992) and their two children.
