Hiptics.com has a reputation for identifying the hip hop hits and hit-makers of the future. The proof is in our content. The following 5 songs have been on our radar for a little while now, but the reality is that casual hip hop fans have yet to really experience these hits. In today’s digital marketplace, it takes time to work a record. In the old music model, artists could launch a single and expect it to blow up within 10-12 weeks. Now, it takes 4-5 months. Ask Diddy. We believe that these 5 songs have the potential to be the hip hop soundtrack to your summer. Without further adue, let’s get to the 5 songs that will define Summer 2010!

Lloyd Banks ft. Juelz Santana – Beamer, Benz, Or Bentley

Hiptics.com reported on “Beamer, Benz, Or Bentley” during the first week of February. We knew it was a hit, and still believe it’s the toughest song of the decade. As a DJ, I’ve been working this song a lot; the energy when the music comes on is undeniable. I begin every radio show and DJ gig spinning Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana’s banger, and am not surprised that it’s beginning to catch on like wildfire. Expect the three B’s to peak this summer; heck, it might even be the song of Summer 2010. What’s really cool about this record is that it does not have the backing of any major record label. Yup, G-Unit Records is pushing “Beamer, Benz, Or Bentley” independently which has the major corporation that let Banks go (Interscope Records) trying to get back on the Punch Line King’s good side. Def Jam is also reportedly interested in signing Banks. Imagine if this record had the machine behind it!

UPDATE : Since this post was published in April, Lloyd Banks enlisted Ludacris, Jadakiss, The-Dream, and Yo Gotti for the “Beamer, Benz, Or Bentley” remix. You can check out the remix, which features an entirely new instrumental, here.

Plies ft. Bei Major – She Got It Made

Hiptics.com first posted Plies’ “She Got It Made” at the beginning of March, but it took us until March 18th to call it a “soon-to-be hit.” Every lady I’ve played this song for absolutely loves it, and rightfully so. Plus, “She Got It Made” feels like summer. What else do you expect from Plies? The Ft. Myers artist consistently makes hit that resonate with the general public while also staying true to his principles. I’m very confident that “She Got It Made” will be a massive commercial success. Look out for Plies’ Goon Affiliated album coming June 8th. Goon Affiliated is Plies’ fourth album and features “She Got It Made,” along with “Medicine ft. Keri Hilson,” “Chirpin ft. Fella,” and “Becky.”
